Page 1: Introduction

We are excited to open applications for BU’s eighth Excellence in Education for Sustainable Development (EESD) Awards. This award recognises and celebrates the work of staff who support their students to develop the skills, knowledge and values to contribute to sustainable development. These include but are not limited to: 

  1. Systems thinking: recognise relationships and interconnectedness of topics within systems at different scales and scopes
  2. Future-facing: understand and evaluate possible, probable and desirable futures, to assess consequences and risks and to create one’s own visions for the future
  3. Holistic problem-solving: apply different problem-solving frameworks to complex problems and develop viable, inclusive and equitable solutions
  4. Collaboration: learning from others, understand and respect needs, perspectives and actions of others, facilitate participatory problem solving
  5. Critical thinking: reflect and able to question the norms, practices and values that underlie individual and societal actions and direct action

Applications are open to both individuals and teams from across Bournemouth University and Students' Union Bournemouth University for any activity that occurred during the 2023-24 academic year.

Applications close at 23:59pm on 31st May 2024.

Two winners will be selected from this one application form:

1: Excellence in Education for Sustainable Development Award.

2: Excellence in Education for Climate and Ecological Action Award.
